Athens Metal Arts Guild:
The Many Facets of Metalsmithing
On View: June 7 – August 4, 2018
Reception: Thursday, June 7, 6:00 - 8:00 pm
Five years ago, the Athens Metal Arts Guild (AMAG) was established, with a mission to provide education, promote public awareness, and develop interest in the metal arts. The Lyndon House Arts Center will celebrate the accomplishments of the guild members, who range from nationally known professional metal and jewelry artists to skilled and creative hobbyists, with an exhibition this summer. The exhibition represents a varied spectrum of work that its members create, utilizing a wide range of metal and jewelry techniques, including forging, casting, enameling, and keum-boo. Artists included in the exhibit are Sylvia Dawe, Anna Eidsvik, Annette Hatton, Tom Keran and Mary Soppko, Leslie Litt, Barbara Mann, Carol McKay, Jim Norton, Courtney Poole Pendergrast, and Diane Perry.
AMAG meets at the Lyndon House Arts Center every other month, featuring speakers or demonstrations, and has an extensive bimonthly newsletter for members with metalsmithing-related news, ideas, and exhibition opportunities. It is one of only two such metal arts guilds in Georgia.
