The Lounge Gallery at the Lyndon House Arts Center, features quarterly solo exhibitions by emerging artists. Artists in the beginning stages or re- invigorating their careers exhibit wall-bound works in mediums alternating from drawing to painting to photography to printmaking.
This fall, The Lounge Gallery will feature works by Timothy Adams. Timothy Adams (b.1962) studied at The School of The Art Institute Of Chicago and The San Francisco Art Institute. He has recently exhibited locally at ATHICA and the Bloom Community Space.
Adams has been living and working in Athens since 1992. A painting and plaster repair contractor by day and a musician by night, he has played guitar and bass in several local bands including The Vinyl Strangers, The Tinfoil Stars and Trunkfire.
Adams’ writes; “My recent work reflects an interest in minimalism, intense color and focused composition. Basic geometric forms like squares, cubes and diamonds, employed as vehicles for the interplay of color schemes, positive and negative space, and flatness or depth. Bold colors are a primary inspiration in these recent paintings and prints, and their myriad combinations are often the initial motivation I draw from when beginning each piece. I rarely have a preconceived notion of what the final image will be, other than a general idea of what pairings or groupings of color I would like to work with, and the intuitive process of divining the final composition is the most challenging and rewarding aspect of making each piece.
