The Lyndon House Arts Center welcomes the community for an exhibition and Saturday Celebration honoring the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. The “Visions of MLK Art Exhibition: Let Us Build Bridges” will feature works by collaborative artist teams who combine poetic words and visual works to interpret and communicate powerful ideas and emotions. The exhibition and program, organized by Montu Miller, is entering its 10th year as a supporting event associated with the public initiative, “Make It A Day On, Not A Day Off Day of Service.”

This year’s exhibition theme, “Let Us Build Bridges”, focuses on building bridges between local communities through collaboration. Using art as an avenue to discuss, recognize and celebrate our differences and the need to come together.

The hands-on project is based on bridge-building activities designed by Chase Street School’s STEM teacher Chris Sugiuchi, and inspired by Montu William’s theme “Let Us Build Bridges”. This activity will engage participants of all ages, working together as a community.

The Saturday Celebration is an afternoon of dance, song, poetry and art. Enjoy the variety show, meet the artists, see the exhibition and take part in hands-on art activities for the whole family. This year the program is featuring Maxim Debonair, Wisexpressions Dance Studio, Life the Griot, Eric Thonnesen, Holy Divinity, Shedrick (Shed) Barnett, Think Out Of The Box Dance Crew, K. Chanta, Eric Johnson, Clarke Middle School Competitive Step Team, Robert Chatmon, The Talented Mr. Winfrey, Devas Tigerettes, Repunza, Bridgette Burton, VIP Girlz "Unity" Dance Team, Supreme XIV, The Arsonist and African Soul.  Special Performance by Cassie Chantel.  Artist Juan Logan, whose exhibit, “Upstream: Sweetmare”, will be giving a gallery talk. Soundtrack provided by Chief Rocka. Food provided by Damunchezz Food Truck.
