Project 32: Costa Building Renovation

Project Statement

Funding for the Costa Building will provide renovation and capital improvements to extend the life and usefulness of the building facility located at 133 East Washington Street. This will include major interior space and layout revisions, provision of ADA access, upgrades to the mechanical system to bring up to code, energy systems, provision of a fire sprinkler system, and additional elements are approved in the Project Concept by M&C on June 15, 2021.

Project Updates

The Contractor is currently installing the low voltage conduit and data lines to their respective location on each floor. The new electrical switchboard panel has been energized and the old electrical switchgear has been removed. Contractor continues with interior framing, installing sheetrock, and finishing sheetrock on each floor. HVAC refrigerant lines and being installed and the new ducting installation is underway to the new office spaces. The elevator installation is complete and is waiting commissioning. Contractor has installed the rainwater harvesting tank and is continuing on the concrete work for the ADA ramp on the East side. Exterior wall panel framing is underway and some exterior panels have been installed. The main fire sprinkler lines have been installed and pressure tested. Contractor is installing the new storm water basins and piping in the alley which will connect to the rainwater harvesting system. Contractor has notified ACCGov that Substantial Completion is anticipated at the end of January 2025.
