Project 30: Expansion of Property & Evidence Facility

Project Summary

At the Athens-Clarke County Public Safety Campus, Project 30 provided for the construction of a new evidence facility to house property, evidence materials and records of the Athens-Clarke County Police Department in a centralized and climate controlled facility for adequately meeting inventory and maintenance requirements of such materials.

The older facility was at capacity required storage of evidence in multiple locations. In order to maintain proper storage of evidence, the new facility was built and expanded to house a higher capacity of evidence at over 5,000 sq. ft. of new storage space. Office space, a conference room, a two-story storage room, processing room, and a vehicle processing garage were built in the facility. The conference room allows attorneys to review evidence without leaving the site. The processing garage allows space for examining crime scene vehicles and is the first dedicated space in ACC for that specific purpose. There are different storage options for drugs, jewelry, guns and cash in a two-story secure vault, with the drug processing area being located near ventilation.
