Sub-Project 2: Old Winterville Rd to Hancock Rd

Project Details

Sub-Project #2 consists of approximately 1.8 miles of multi-use 12’-14’ wide concrete trail with necessary appurtenances.

This section of the Rail to Trails Network extends the Firefly Trail from Old Winterville Road under the existing Athens Bypass to Hancock Road. The project also incorporates a new 200’ flyover bridge to allow future construction of a new GDOT sponsored bypass on ramp.

Project Updates

Construction began in the late Summer of 2020 upon final land acquisition and coordination with GDOT. Georgia Development Partners were awarded the construction contract and anticipate final completion in October  2021.
