When requesting a Temporary Fire Hydrant Meter, completed applications are submitted to Building Inspections in-person or emailed to accbuild@accgov.com.
An initial $160 fee (cash or check only) is required prior to application being processed and submitted to Public Utilities to schedule the installation of Temporary Fire Hydrant Meter. Initial fee includes 11,000 gallons. Usage over 11,000 gallons will result in additional costs. All water used is charged at Tier 4 rates. Temporary Fire Hydrant meters are read and billed, every 4 to 6 weeks. Bills will be mailed to the name and address listed on the submitted application.
After the Temporary Fire Hydrant Meter is set, it is the customer’s responsibility to notify Meter Management Division of Public Utilities at 706-613-3479 when done using the Temporary Fire Hydrant Meter and it will be picked up. It is also the responsibility of the customer to notify Meter Management of any leaks or repairs needed to the Temporary Fire Hydrant Meter.
Temporary Fire Hydrant Meters will be set within 48 hours of Meter Management receiving application.
Please include a sketch of location and desired location of Temporary Fire Hydrant Meter on application, including hydrant number found at: Utilities View (accgov.com) Staff will contact applicant if meter cannot be set at desired location.
In winter months, Temporary Fire Hydrant Meter and fire hydrant are required to be fully insulated for duration of use.
Only ACC PUD staff is permitted to operate the Fire Hydrant stem. Please include hose connection size on application to ensure that desired connection is installed for hook up.
Fire hydrant will be left open upon installation of Temporary Fire Hydrant Meter and isolation valve for customer access will be provided.
A fill station is located at 1025 Alexander St. for those requiring immediate water. Companies can sign for water to fill trucks/tanks without going through the temporary meter application process. Please call Meter Management (706) 613-3479 for more information.
