Community Tree Certificate of Occupancy Resource Documents

Overview

For the Certificate of Occupancy (C.O.) to be issued the ACC Arborist conducts a site visit. Inspections will focus on the technical standards outlined in the Community Tree Management Ordinance. These standards include but are not limited to the following:

  • Size and location of conserved canopy.
  • Species and location of planted trees.
  • Distance between trees and infrastructure and structures as specified on the TMP.
  • Tree establishment standards in 8-7-19(i). Not meeting the requirements below will delay a C.O.
    • Root flare is visible above the ground.
    • Burlap and wire basket removed.
    • Trees will be mulched.
    • Trees will be properly watered when natural rainfall is less than 1 inch/week.

The ACC arborist will not be able to sign-off on the final inspection if any trees on the TMP are missing or dead, or if species or location of trees on site does not match approved TMP.

The ACC Community Forester will conduct a Certificate of Occupancy inspection if trees on the TMP are located in the public ROW.

The ACC Arborist will make inspections of the property at 1 year and 3 years after the CO has been issued. Any protected tree that has died or has been removed from the site is required to be replaced by the property owner. Replacement is required by the next planting season.
