Overview
- For projects that cannot be done by right with ACC’s current local Code of Ordinance an applicant may need to apply for special permissions through either the Hearings Board, Historic Preservation Commission, or Planning Commission and Mayor & Commission.
- The Hearings Board reviews applications for variances as well as appeals of staff interpretations
- The Historic Preservation Commission reviews applications for Certificates of Appropriateness, as well as to deliberate and make recommendations to the Mayor and Commission regarding the protection of historic resources in Athens-Clarke County.
- The Planning Commission makes recommendations to the Mayor & Commission regarding the Planning & Zoning actions, Comprehensive Plan and other planning and development-related matter along with Type III zoning actions.
- The Mayor & Commission deliberates and makes a final decision on.
