Project 6: East Athens Community Park (now Walker Park) - Phase 2

Project Summary

The East Athens Community Park (now Walker Park) – Phase II Project was divided into two separate sub-projects, Phase II-A and Phase II-B:

Phase II-A sub-project was the Peter Street entrance roadway and bridge. This sub-project included a new intersection between Peter Street and a connecting park entrance roadway section connecting Peter Street to the existing Park road system. A 160 foot long bridge structure was utilized to span Trail Creek and the entire roadway includes an eight foot wide pedestrian sidewalk section and all appropriate roadway appurtenances.

The Phase II-B sub-project was the construction and installation of new park elements inside the park including additional lighting to the sports fields, additional walking trails, new playground areas, a 100 person splash pad area, picnic areas and facilities, an interactive basketball area, additional restroom facilities and new parking areas.
