Each year, Athens-Clarke County Stormwater participates in and assists with various community events. Some events are an annual affair and others are a one time event. Annual Events

  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service - A community wide volunteer day of service held on Martin Luther King Jr. Day each January.
  • Athens GreenFest - An extended Earth Day celebration that highlights environmental events, volunteer activities, workshops, and the GreenFest Environmental Awards Ceremony. The GreenFest Awards are usually held in mid-April. This event is open to the public.
  • Roll Out the Barrels - Local artists turn rain barrels into art to be auctioned off to raise money for the Athens-Clarke County Green Schools Program. This family-friendly event is held in May each year.
  • Athens Water Festival - A celebration of water with activities and fun for the whole family. Usually held on the first Saturday of September at Sandy Creek Park.
  • Rivers Alive - An annual community-wide stream clean up event held in the fall, organized by a committee of ACC agencies and nonprofit organizations.
  • Rain Barrel Workshops - Learn how to build your own rain barrel or bring a barrel to convert. These workshops happen about 4 times a year. Download instructions to make one on your own.
