New Year's Day Holiday Schedule 2026
2026 New Year’s Day Holiday Schedule
- The Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department will suspend compost, garbage, recycling, and leaf & limb collections on Thursday January 1st, 2026, in recognition of the New Year's Day Holiday.
- If you have residential service & commercial service with us outside of the downtown district your pick-up schedule will be as follows: Monday will be collected on Monday. Tuesday will be collected on Tuesday. Wednesday will be collected on Wednesday. Thursday and Friday will be collected Friday. Please make sure your trash and recycling roll-carts are out on the curb by 7:00 AM on your pick-up day. We will resume our normal pick-up schedule on Monday, January 5th, 2026.
- If you have commercial or residential service with us and are located within the Downtown District your pick-up will be on regular schedule.

Annually, the Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department may alter collection service for the following holidays:
New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Earth Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Indigenous People's Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, & Christmas.
