Consumer Healthy Solutions Plans with Health Savings Account The CHS plans provide you with a health plan option that offers a lower premium in exchange for a greater portion of the initial cost-share from you, with an opportunity to open a Health Savings Account (HSA) that you can use to save for and spend on future health care costs. ACCUG offers two Consumer Healthy Solutions Plans:
Participants in a CHS plan MUST open a Health Savings Account through Benefit Wallet/BNY Mellon Bank.
A Health Savings Account is a tax-advantaged medical savings account available to individuals participating in a high deductible health plan (CHS plan). The funds contributed to the account are not subject to federal income tax at the time of deposit and even earn interest! HSA funds can be used to pay for your annual deductible and any other qualified medical expenses* not covered by the health insurance plan. HSA contributions are made on a pre-tax basis, and withdrawals for qualified medical expenses are not taxed. Funds in the HSA also roll over and accumulate from year to year if not spent and can be used for future health care expenses. The HSA account is owned by the participant. Once enrolled, you will receive a debit card that may be used for convenient payment of your qualified health care expenses and have the option to receive a checkbook.
Open Access Point of Service (POS) Health Plan This is a comprehensive major medical program utilizing a POS (Point of Service) network of physicians and hospitals. Domestic Partner Benefits: Domestic partners qualify for enrollment in the ACC group health insurance plan and can only be added during Open Enrollment. They do not qualify for dental, vision, dependent life insurance, or COBRA benefits.
Dental Plan: The Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County's dental insurance is an optional voluntary coverage designed to reduce the costs of regular dental care. The plan pays 100% of approved costs for periodic exams and cleanings; and 50-80% of other procedures, based on the type of procedure, after a $50 annual deductible is met. There is a $1,200 annual maximum benefit for covered expenses.
Blue View Vision Plan: ACCUG provides group vision coverage as a voluntary benefit, paid 100% by the employee, for vision-related expenses. Routine eye exams can detect visual defects and eye diseases, such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration. Furthermore, many employees and their family members wear some type of corrective lenses that require periodic lens replacement. The Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue View Vision plan can offset the cost of exams, frames and lenses. For a complete list of network providers, please visit www.bcbsga.com.
