Oath of Office
Incoming peace officers take and agree to abide by the following Oath of Office as specified in Georgia law, to uphold the laws of the United States, State of Georgia, and Athens-Clarke County:
I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America and the Constitution of the state of Georgia; that I will faithfully enforce the laws of the State of Georgia and the ordinances of Athens-Clarke County; and that I will comply with the rules and regulations of the Athens-Clarke County Department of Police Services.
I do further swear that I am not the holder of any unaccounted for public money due this state or political subdivision or authority thereof; that I am not the holder of any office of trust under the government of the United States, any other state, or any foreign state which, by the laws of the State of Georgia, I am prohibited from holding; and that I am otherwise qualified to be a police officer according to the Constitution and the laws of Georgia.
I do further swear that, as a police officer, I will faithfully serve and protect, to the best of my ability, all citizens regardless of race, color, or creed. I accept the law enforcement code of ethics as my standard of conduct while on or off duty and swear to faithfully abide by and defend the same.
Code of Ethics

All employees and volunteers of the Department shall abide by and uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct for law enforcement agencies, and will share equally in a commitment to the Department's vision, mission, values, goals, and objectives. All sworn officers are required to abide by the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics approved by the Department of Criminal Justice Services. Communications Officers shall abide by the Code of Ethics provided by the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials. The civilian staff also must abide by a Code of Ethics.
