Fishing at Sandy Creek Park

null

Large-mouth bass, channel catfish, bullhead catfish, crappie, and bream are the most commonly caught fish at Lake Chapman. Grass carp have been placed in the lake to help control aquatic vegetation. If caught, we ask that these fish be released. Sport fishing only is permitted (pole and line). No baskets, trot lines, or trapping are allowed. The daily limit for bass is 10 and crappie is 30.

Fishing is permitted everywhere in Sandy Creek Park EXCEPT:

  • On or near the dam and spillway
  • The concrete platform (water release mechanism) in front of the dam
  • The Beach
  • The Boat Ramp or the loading/unloading dock located next to the boat ramp

While there are no additional fees beyond park entry, all Fishing Regulations must be observed. Patrons should have their licenses and registrations with them at all times as Georgia Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement officers regularly patrol the lake.
