Stacee Farrell Named Keep Georgia Beautiful's Barbara Mason Executive Director of the Year!
Stacee Farrell was recognized with the Keep Georgia Beautiful Barbara Mason Executive Director of the Year Award, a significant lifetime achievement. The award is named in honor of Barbara Mason, who dedicated her life to preserving the environment and establishing the Keep America Beautiful system in Georgia and the nation. It recognizes an affiliate leader with an established record of success and is awarded to a director only once in their career.
 
The nomination from KACCB Board Chair Marilyn Appleby reads “In the short time I have known Stacee, I have always been greeted with a smile, enthusiasm, and another great idea. She is a joy to work with and sees an opportunity in everything. During her 11 years as executive director, she has always exhibited the utmost tact, patience and respect with everyone she works with, and has accomplished her goals with an air of ease, professionalism, and a smile. Her greatest legacy is the respect that others have for KACCB because of her work.” This award is the culmination of a long record of awards for the affiliate while under her direction including the Rivers Alive Government Partner of the Year by Athens-Clarke County in 2011, awards for the Cigarette Fairy and the “Seriously, y’all still litter?” campaigns, Keep Georgia Affiliate of the Year in 2013 and 2014, and Keep America Beautiful First (2014) and Second Place (2015) Affiliate of the Year awards. The programs she has innovated mobilize thousands of volunteers every year and bring programs that clean and beautify our community to Athens. She is a director that gets the job done and makes sure that everyone around her has fun doing it!

Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful Recognized with “OUTSTANDING CIVIC ORGANIZATION GRAND AWARD”

Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful (KACCB) was recognized for their Edible Neighborwoods/School Orchards project with the 2014 “Outstanding Civic Organization” Award by the Georgia Urban Forestry Council (GUFC). KACCB partnered with several community groups to plant orchards at two elementary schools, two middle schools, and six urban community garden sites reaching 1,324 students. This year’s planting is a part of a larger school orchard project that will place fruit trees at every middle and high school in the county when completed. These Orchards support the use of outdoor learning spaces to teach the environmental, economic, and aesthetic significance of green spaces while providing fresh, healthy, locally grown fruits and vegetables.

KACCB has been named the 2013-2014 Keep Georgia Beautiful Affiliate of the Year for the second year in a row. This prestigious award honors one affiliate each year on their comprehensive work in litter prevention, community improvement, waste reduction, and how they sustainably leverage their program to improve the quality of life in their communities.  Georgia has the largest network of affiliates in the Nation with affiliates in 75 counties.  KACCB staff will be recognized at Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation Annual Awards Event on December 12, at Emory Conference Center Hotel in Atlanta

On an annual basis, KACCB administers 7 litter prevention programs, 8 recycling programs/events, and 7 community beautification programs. KACCB participates in the KAB Great American Clean-up, National Planting Day, Waste in Place, America Recycles Day, and the Cigarette Litter Prevention Program. In 2013-2014 we completed 14 workshops and held 35 outreach events with 9,527 community members attending and engaged 7,286 volunteers into action for our community. Last year our outreach education efforts reached 4176 students in 29 schools and daycare centers. KACCB works closely with the local business community and celebrates their contributions through our signature Beautiful Business of the Month Program. We have a strong board of diverse members that are passionate and proactive and have made KACCB one of the top non-profits in our community. 

Keep America Beautiful Affiliate of the Year, Second Place

KACCB has been named the 2013-2014 Second Place Keep America Beautiful Affiliate of the Year This award honors affiliates based on their commitment to delivering a cleaner, greener, more vibrant community in 2014. Keep America Beautiful is the nation’s leading nonprofit that brings people together to build and sustain vibrant communities. With a network of more than 1,200 affiliate and participating organizations including state recycling organizations, KAB works with millions of volunteers to take action in their communities through programs that deliver sustainable impact.  

Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful was chosen as the Second Place Affiliate of the year in the 50,001 to 200,001 population category.    As a local affiliate of the Keep Georgia Beautiful program and the Keep America Beautiful program, KACCB positively affects the community by bringing State and National programs to Athens and engaging citizens in volunteer service.   On an annual basis, KACCB administers 7 litter prevention programs, 8 recycling programs/events, and 7 community beautification programs.
