Along with many other beautification projects, Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful administers the Adopt-A-Highway program for all county maintained roads. With approximately 69 Adopt-A-Highway groups in our county, KACCB honors the groups that routinely demonstrate their merit and comply with all the program’s established rules and requirements.
This year KACCB would like to recognize the Falling Shoals Home Owner’s Association as the 2020 Adopt-A-Highway group of the year!
At the height of the pandemic, KACCB made the difficult decision to temporarily suspend the Adopt-A-Highway Program. However, during this most challenging year, one group – the Falling Shoals Home Owner’s Association – took it upon themselves to rise from dormancy and re-engage in a way that made them stand out from the pack.
Their litter-removal efforts began in 2017 when they became responsible for conducting roadside clean-ups along a 1.4 mile stretch of Whit Davis Road, between Old Lexington Road and Barnett Shoals Road. In 2020, they conducted four (4) litter clean-ups and, as a direct result of the efforts of their 53 hours of time, one bag of recyclable materials and 29 bags of trash were collected, removed, and properly disposed of.
We would like to thank the Falling Shoals Home Owner’s Association for their time and energy, and honor their service to our community
