Along with myriad beautification projects, Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful administers the Adopt-A-Highway program for all county maintained roads. With over 70 Adopt-A-Highway groups in the program, KACCB honors the groups that routinely demonstrate their merit and comply with all the program’s established rules and requirements.
This year KACCB would like to recognize Phi Beta Sigma (Zeta Nu Chapter) as the 2022 Adopt-A-Highway group of the year!
The Zeta Nu Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma joined the AAH program, nearly three decades ago and ever since then they’ve been responsible for conducting consistent roadside clean-ups along a 1.1 mile stretch of Baxter Street, between S. Lumpkin Street and Columbus Avenue. In 2021, upon emerging from the pandemic times, Phi Beta Sigma (Zeta Nu Chapter) quickly began scheduling their litter clean-ups and was one of just a dozen or so groups that managed to conduct four clean-ups. Then, last year, the group went above and beyond by conducting five litter clean-ups.
We hope they serve as a great role model for other organizations interested in making long-term contributions to the community through KACCB’s Adopt-A-Highway program
