Tallassee Forest Master Plan

In 2012, Athens-Clarke County acquired a 310 acre greenspace on Tallassee Road, near Burney-Harris Lyons Middle School. The property features dramatic floodplains along the Middle Oconee River with a bottom-land forest and stands of native river cane, mature upland forests with American holly, a wetland, and a rocky creek. Master Planning is underway to establish a park on this property.

In December 2016 and January 2017, public input was held for the preliminary design. After the input has been processed and applied to the design, a series of public review meetings will be scheduled.
