Volunteer boards provide important input, policy development, and additional perspectives for staff and elected officials. These boards, authorities, commissions, task forces, committees, and user groups may be appointed by the Mayor & Commission, directly by the Mayor, or through other methods.

Arena District Steering Committee
The purpose of the Arena District Partnership is to govern all private sector commercial development activities involving the Arena District, including, but not limited to, apartments, condominiums, hotels, restaurants, and retail, as well as the parking needs for the Classic Center periphery.

ARPA Affordable Housing Advisory Committee
This committee was appointed to assist in development of an Affordable Housing Investment Strategy.

ARPA - Business Development & Workforce Support Task Force
Focused on identifying priority actions needed for connecting Athens residents with high-wage employment, small business development, and worker empowerment, regardless of funding source.

Inclusionary Housing Working Group
The Inclusionary Housing Working Group will develop policies and practices that will encourage mixed-income development across zones allowing for single family and multi-family units

Rights-of-Way Use Committee
Ad Hoc Committee to Work with the ACC Attorney and Manager for clarifying the definition of “Public Right-of-Way” and allowable uses thereof in a manner that provides a common understanding for ACC staff and the public.

Safety & Justice Committee
The Safety and Justice Committee will design data-driven, high-yield crime prevention efforts that can be sustained in Athens-Clarke County and bolster criminal justice system responses that are equitable and supportive of civil rights, human dignity, and recidivism reduction.

TSPLOST 2026 Advisory Committee
The TSPLOST 2023 Advisory Committee is a 22 member Committee which is charged with receiving, reviewing, recommending, and reporting to Mayor & Commission (M&C) the projects that the Advisory Committee believes should be included within the TSPLOST 2023 Program. The Committee is to provide leadership in assembling a community based effort to help ensure that the TSPLOST 2023 Program successfully passes on the referendum.
