The Comprehensive Plan was strategically scheduled to commence in cooperation with Envision Athens, a similar study presently underway. Envision Athens takes a broader approach to community and economic development, while the Comprehensive Plan has set criteria that must be addressed in hopes of providing a collective outline for achieving initiatives highlighted in the plan. About the Plan
In brief, the community has put forth an effort to not only produce a document that outlines the necessary items required to comply with state mandates, but also a more creative, broad-based community and economic development strategy in Envision Athens. The Comprehensive Plan was divided into five areas of focus: People, Prosperity, Place, Vitality, and Foundation. Each element of the plan is approached with these areas of focus in mind.
