Sub-Project #2 consists of the design and construction of replacing the airport Localizers. The project will require the existing grades to be modified and drainage improvements to meet runway safety area standards for Runway 9. Along with the grading, the localizer will require a platform to meet the FAA requirements. The design will consist of the preparation of construction drawings and specifications necessary to complete the projects as well as the necessary documents to request/receive a change order pricing from the current Runway Rehabilitation contractor.
Project Concept has been approved. Design is 90% complete. FAA is reviewing and to provide comments on the design. Pricing on the design from the current contractor was rejected and the work has been combined with the bidding documents for the Taxiway “A” work. Bids were received on May 28, 2020. The construction award for Sub0 Project #2 was approved by M&C on July 7, 2020. Supplemental Agreement #2 from GDOT has been executed; which allows work on the localizer to begin. The equipment for the project has a six month delivery time. Notice to Proceed was delayed by GDOT from original projection of March but it was issued on April 12, 2021. Work is expected to be completed in June 2022.
