Since 1997, communities across the country have come together on November 15 to celebrate America Recycles Day. It is one day to educate and motivate. One day to get our neighbors, friends and community leaders excited about what can be accomplished when we all work together. One day to make recycling bigger and better 365 days a year. K-12 students are invited to participate in Read for Recycling. This program rewards students and classes learning about recycling and waste reduction through books. Click here to print a Reading Journal.

KACCB Cell and Inkjet Drive Are your old cell phones, inkjets, and small electronics piling up? Or have you, (gasp!), been throwing them away? Celebrate America Recycles Day by bringing them to the CHaRM to benefit Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful and raise funds for community beautification projects and programs.

Repair Café @ ACC Solid Waste - 725 Hancock Industrial Way Bring an item in need of repair like bicycles, toys, clothing/textiles, computers, small furniture, electronics, tools and small appliances (No automobile repair). We will help you fi­x the item. This will be same day service and we are NOT masters at ­fixing everything, but we will try our best. “Repairing people and things, one cafe at a time!”

2019 ACC SolidWaste-Read for RecyclingThe ACC Recycling Division would like to invite you and your students to participate in America Recycles Day (ARD) through the Georgia Recycling Coalition’s Read for Recycling program. Recognized on November 15th, ARD is a wonderful way to educate and engage in recycling activities. For the week of November 10-16th, we ask students in K-12 classes to participate in Read for Recycling program to learn more about recycling and waste reduction through books.

The Athens-Clarke County Recycling Division will be hosting a local competition in addition to the Georgia Recycling Coalition.

The teacher and/or media center specialist with the most student participation willreceive a class set of waste reduction/recycling books for his/her classroom.

To participate in the Athens competition, please collect all Reading Journals at the school and have them delivered to:
