Since 1997, communities across the country have come together on November 15 to celebrate America Recycles Day. It is one day to educate and motivate. One day to get our neighbors, friends and community leaders excited about what can be accomplished when we all work together. One day to make recycling bigger and better 365 days a year. Reuse beats Recycling! Join us as we try to work to "Repair People and Things!" In partnership with local businesses and organizations, ACC Recycling will be hosting Repair Cafe events throughout the year. Stay tuned for upcoming updates to the calendar. Bring an item in need of repair like bicycles, toys, clothing/textiles, computers, small furniture, electronics, tools and small appliances (No automobile repair). We will help you repair the item. This will be same day service and we are NOT masters at fixing everything, but we will try our best.
The Green Life Expo is designed to provide inspiration and the tools needed to help our community members become more sustainable in our everyday lives. The event hosts hands-on workshops, sustainability panel sessions on industry and education, and exhibitors from local businesses and organizations. The awards highlight the amazing efforts of our community to be sustainable.
Celebrated annually, ICAW, is designed to promote the benefits of composting and compost for effective resource management, soil health and plant growth. Traditionally, ICAW is promoted by holding group activities and events and celebrated the first week of May each year.
The Sustainable Industry Roundtable (SIR) is a group of concerned business leaders who want to make positive impacts on the global environment. The group was started in August 2010 through a partnership between the ACC Environmental Coordinator, ACC Recycling Division and Power Partners, Inc. It meets quarterly at different businesses and organizations that are taking great measures to be sustainable.
