Each year, the US uses 30 billion plastic bags, requiring 14 million barrels of oil. Only 1% of those plastic bags are recycled annually. If you use a plastic bag, recycle it after use.

Plastic bags and film plastic (listed below) can be recycled in designated locations at most grocery stores and at the ACC CHaRM.

Start a reusable bag habit and lessen your burden on the planet by using less bags.

Types of plastic you can recycle:

  • ALL CLEAN, DRY BAGS labeled #2 or #4
  • Bread bags (no bread in bags)
  • Case wrap (e.g. snacks or water bottles)
  • Cereal box liners (no cereal in bag)
  • Diaper wrapping (packaging only, no diapers)
  • Dry cleaning bags
  • Electronic wrap
  • Furniture wrap
  • Grocery bags
  • Newspaper bags
  • Plastic bags
  • Produce bags (no produce in bags)
  • Retail bags (hard plastic and/or string handles removed)
  • Shipping envelopes (labels removed)
  • Toilet paper, napkin, and paper towel wrapping
  • Tyvek (no glue, labels or other material)
  • Zip lock type bags (hard components at top removed)
