Adopt-A-Stream Equipment

If you are AAS certified, you can rent the necessary equipment from the nature center for $5 a kit. Biological equipment includes d-frame nets, buckets, trays, magnifying glasses, tweezers, and ID Sheets. Chemical equipment consists of LaMotte Test Kits, including everything you need to measure dissolved oxygen, pH, conductivity, and temperature. Call to reserve this equipment.

Discovery Boxes These resource boxes are designed to supplement the school science curriculum for all grades pre-K through 5th. Use them as part of a lesson plan or for extension activities. These resources help make learning more exciting for everyone. Discovery Boxes are filled with pictures, natural artifacts (skulls, bones, etc.), teacher activity books, posters, audio tapes, scientific equipment (rain gauges, barometers etc.), puzzles and games.

How to Rent Equipment or Discovery Boxes 

  1. Call the Sandy Creek Nature Center at 706-613-3615 ext. 0.
  2. Reservations are handled on a first-come, first served basis. There is a $5 fee for each resource per 2-week rental period. Clarke County School District schools may rent discovery boxes at no cost.
  3. You can reserve these items for up to two weeks at a time.
  4. Please pick up and drop off the equipment at SCNC's Education and Visitor Center.

Note: Clarke County School District schools will have Discovery Boxes delivered to their schools through school mail services.
