Sandy Creek Park Reduced Services

Sandy Creek Park and Lake Chapman have reduced services due to flooding. Lakeside Trail, Campsite Drive, and the beach are closed.
The Greenway is closed between College Avenue and Sandy Creek Nature Center due to flooding. Cook’s Trail and other ancillary trails are closed due to flooding. Please be cautious of other trails which remain wet and slippery.

Reptile House at Bear Hollow Zoo Closure

The Reptile House at Bear Hollow Zoo is closed due to rain damage until further notice.
Firefly Trail at Old Winterville Road Closure

The Firefly Trail at Old Winterville Road will be closed due to construction until further notice.
Lay Park Gym Closure

Lay Park Gym will be closed for repairs until further notice. East Athens Community Center Gym remains open to the public during regular hours of operation.
Oconee Street Greenway / Firefly Trail Crosswalk Closure

The crosswalk at Oconee Street between the Greenway and Firefly Trails will be closed November 18, 2019 until January 2020. Due to the nature of the construction, no temporary access route through the construction area will be permitted. Pedestrians and cyclists are encouraged to use the nearest traffic signals to cross Oconee Street. (.2 miles east at Barnett Shoals Road and .5 miles west at Poplar Street)
Cook’s Trail Trail Closure

Due to the wet weather and flooding along Sandy Creek, Cook’s Trail is closed until further notice. There has been extensive damage to boardwalks and bridges. Boardwalks will have to be rebuilt.
