    District 6 Commissioner Stephanie Johnson grew up here in Athens and is a proud product of the Clarke County School District, graduating from Clarke Central High School in 1991. She found herself intrigued by math at an early age, which led to her obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Georgia in 1997. Also, she earned her Lean Six Sigma Certification from the UGA in 2015; she is a 2016 graduate of Lead Athens. She is currently pursuing a Master of Business and Technology degree from the Terry College of Business at UGA.

    Commissioner Johnson met her husband, Jeffery Johnson (Jeff), in 2014, and they were married in 2021. Jeff currently serves our community as the Field Operations East Patrol Division Commander with the Athens Clarke County Police Department. With her marriage to Jeff, Johnson gained a “bonus” daughter, Jasmine, a Senior studying History Education at Georgia State University. 

    Commissioner Johnson has made impactful contributions to her community through her leadership and service. She previously served as a board member of both the Clarke County Mentor Program and the Community and Youth Development Organization (CYDO). For nearly 15 years, Commissioner Johnson has dedicated her time to providing math tutoring to students from elementary school through college, helping them build confidence and achieve academic success. Since 2015, she has been actively involved in Toastmasters, furthering her commitment to personal and professional growth. A proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated since 1995, Commissioner Johnson remains deeply committed to creating a positive and lasting impact in Athens-Clarke County.

    Commissioner Johnson and her husband actively participate in Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, a community she joined as a child. Her earlier years of church involvement led her to discover public service, inspiring her to run for and be elected as District 6 Commissioner on May 21st, 2024. She was sworn into office on January 7, 2025.
