Project 16: Oconee River Heritage Trail
This phase of the greenway project added three pedestrian / bicycle bridges over the North Oconee River, and Interpretive Center at the Chicopee Complex, and continued connection of the greenway through Dudley Park to Oconee Street and on to Williams Street where it will connect with the University of Georgia campus at East Campus Road.
The project was divided into five divisions:
- II-A - Dudley Park / Oconee Street Trail (April 2000 - June 2000)
- II-B - Chicopee Interpretive Center (July 2000 - February 2001)
- II-C - North Oconee River Bridges (July 2000 - March 2001)
- II-D - Williams Street Connector (September 2000 - March 2001)
- II-E - Easley's Mill (future funding source)

Project 17: North Oconee Greenway Phase I
For this phase, we acquired and began appropriate development of the wetlands and bottom land tracts along the North Oconee River to provide a variety of outdoor recreational and educational opportunities and safe alternative transportation, including pedestrian and bicycle paths. Project 18: Dirt Roads Program
This project upgraded approximately 20 existing dirt roads to residential paved standards, eliminating the need for constant repairs.

Project 19: Neighborhood Park Development
This project established an agreement with the Board of Education for the development of neighborhood parks at 17 existing school sites to offer a range of recreation, arts, and environmental education. This project began the process of developing recreational amenities on elementary and middle school sites to allow extended use of the school grounds as neighborhood parks during non-instructional times of the day and year, and which will also function in concert with school activities. The project is complete.

Project 20: College Station Road Gateway
This project was meant to enhance the appearance and function of this corridor by making improvements to the landscaping; creating separate lanes for vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists; and linking it with the Oconee River Greenway. This project is complete.

Project 21: Multimodal Transportation Center
This project constructed a new Transit Bus Transfer Center for Athens-Clarke County buses, University of Georgia buses, and intercity buses. The project was intended to improve rideshare opportunities and plan for the possibility of a commuter rail. This project is complete.

Project 22: Barnett Shoals Road Widening / Drainage
This project widened Barnett Shoals from Greencrest Drive to College Station Road from a four-lane road to a five-lane road, installed an extensive storm drainage system, and added sidewalks on both sides. The project is complete.

Project 23: Lyndon House Renovation / Expansion
This project renovated and expanded the Ware-Lyndon House to meet the increased community demand for arts education, exhibition space, community-based programs, and resource services. The project is complete.

Project 24: Danielsville Road Widening
The State of Georgia Department of Transportation was responsible for the construction funding for the widening of Danielsville Road from the Athens Perimeter Highway to Nowhere Road. This construction included the addition of turn lanes at all major intersections. SPLOST funds were expended for appraisal and legal expenses as well as property acquisition for the construction.

Project 26: Hull Street Complex

Project 27: Bishop Park Tennis Center
This project constructed three indoor tennis courts for the public’s use, which includes league development, special events, and instructional classes. The project is complete.

Project 28: Southeast Clarke Community Park
This project's purpose was to acquire land and begin development of a community park, which may include (depending on further study) competitive athletic fields, passive recreation facilities, a multipurpose indoor facility, and outdoor environmental area.
The project is located in an area near the corner of Whit Davis Road and Lexington Road. This project is now complete.
