Project 9: Airport Water Main

This project extended an appropriately sized water main from the south runway safety area to the north terminal. It provides the water flow necessary to meet fire flow regulations for current and proposed future airport development and the Winterville Road area.

Project 10: Airport Sanitary Sewer

Project 13: East Athens / Lay Park Community Centers & Other Park Facility Renovations

This project consisted of a comprehensive renovation of the major mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, and ADA accessibility of the recreational, educational, and office spaces existing East Athens and Thomas N. Lay community centers. It included resurfacing the existing basketball court and replacing the existing pool filtration system at Thomas N. Lay Park. It also included the installation of a new water main and fire protection systems to Walker Hall at the Sandy Creek Nature Center, renovation of the beach area at Sandy Creek Park, and the construction of a new animal health care facility for the Bear Hollow Wildlife Trail at Memorial Park.

Project 14: Memorial Park Operations

The project demolished the existing operations center facility and constructed a new facility comprised of multipurpose community / educational space, an administrative office, meeting spaces for park staff, restrooms, kitchen spaces, and approximately 40 additional parking spaces. It also consisted of preparing a general plan for Memorial Park identifying all future areas of development.

Project 15: Athens Welcome Center Improvements

The project renovated the existing Athens Welcome Center (Church-Waddel-Brumby House) located at the intersection of Thomas Street and Dougherty Street. It included constructing an appropriately designed stand-alone building addition that houses ADA-accessible restrooms, an information / video space, and administrative office and storage space. The project reworked the existing grounds to provide additional parking and historically appropriate garden landscaping. It also included waterproofing and stabilization of the existing house.
