The Athens-Clarke County Economic Development Department was established by ordinance of the Mayor and Commission on February 5, 2013. 

Facilitate economic growth in Athens-Clarke County by:

• Supporting business growth with key resources, information, and assistance
• Partnering to market our community to prospective employers in targeted strategic sectors
• Building employer, provider, and community relationships to increase access to workforce development
• Connecting small business owners & entrepreneurs to resources and assistance
