Inside the City Hall Clock Tower

Inside the City Hall Clock Tower Video

Hopefully, you remembered to turn back your clocks last weekend by an hour. If not - or even if so - this video of the inner workings of the clock that resides in the iconic City Hall dome might be of interest.

Built in 1904, City Hall's clock tower features a clock with four working clock faces and a bell that continues to chime on the hour, every hour. The iconic clock tower is a well-known community treasure that helps keep time even after more than a century. Take a rare glimpse inside of the clock tower with this video to see what - and who - makes it tick.

Watch the video and learn more about City Hall at accgov.com/cityhall.

ACT presents "Sweeney Todd" Nov. 16-19

Athens Creative Theatre (ACT), a unit of the Arts Division of ACCGov's Leisure Services Department, presents "Sweeney Todd" at the Morton Theatre during November 16-19.

Sweeney Todd, an unjustly exiled barber, returns to 19th century London, seeking vengeance against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife.

The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, a resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop, above which he opens a new barber practice. Mrs. Lovett's luck sharply shifts when Todd's thirst for blood inspires the integration of an ingredient into her meat pies that has the people of London lining up... and the carnage has only just begun!

A large x over a leaf blower and a pile of leaves clogging a storm drain

Keep leaves out of storm drains & streets

ACCGov reminds residents to properly dispose of leaves, grass clippings, brush, tree limbs, and other landscape materials to prevent debris from clogging storm drains, flooding roads, or polluting waterways.

Clippings, pine straw, small brush, and leaves should be mulched or composted on site, hauled to a composting site or landfill, or piled on the curb for leaf and limb pick-up using brown paper bags available at home improvement and grocery stores.

Lawn debris should not be swept or blown into the street or storm drains (or your neighbor's property, for that matter).

For a leaf and limb collection schedule, visit accgov.com/leaflimb.

The ACCGov Mixtape is distributed monthly by the Public Information Office (706-613-3795 | info@accgov.com). To subscribe to Mixtape or view archived versions, visit www.accgov.com/mixtape.
