Dawn Brinkley was born and raised in Texas. She was a Senior Lecturer of psychology for over six years at the University of Texas at Dallas, where she earned a Ph.D. in psychological sciences. In November 2017, she was invited to Athens for a research position at the University of Georgia (UGA). Captivated by the charm of the Classic City, she decided to make it her home.

Before pursuing her passion for translating research into practice, Dawn completed a 5-year postdoctoral assignment at UGA, where she examined the effects of positive fathering on children's development in African American families. Over the past 12 years, she has written and collaborated on academic, government, and business grants.

Dawn is also a National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach specializing in emotional support and life skills coaching. Additionally, she is a certified yoga instructor. She is a mother of two, an older sister to five siblings, and the favorite aunt to her niece and nephews. A self-proclaimed foodie and psychology enthusiast, Dawn enjoys movies, listening to podcasts, reading, baking, nature walks, and living life to the fullest.

Dawn is committed to serving the people of Athens-Clarke County, being a productive team member, and being a light to others.
