The County Board of Assessors is responsible for determining if you can be taxed, value, and equalization of all property assessments within the county. The Board of Assessors is a three-member body of appointed citizens of Athens-Clarke County. The members are appointed for a fixed year term by the Athens-Clarke County Board of Commissioners and operate autonomously. A Chairman and Vice-Chairman are elected on an annual basis.
