Services

Housing and Community Development (HCD) administers CDBG to assist low- to moderate-income residents in demolishing dangerous structures. HCD also partners with the Code Enforcement Division to administer a court ordered demolition program. The Demolition Program focuses on the removal of slum and blight through the (voluntary) demolition of dilapidated residential structures. 

CDBG funds are available to demolish single-family residential units owned by low- to moderate-income Athens-Clarke County residents at no cost to the resident. Court ordered single-family residential units are demolished using general funds, and costs are recovered by placing a lien on the demolished property.
