Major Eric Swift started his career in 2002 with the Santa Rosa Police Department. While there he worked numerous assignments including patrol, gang investigations, the SWAT Team, and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force. In 2014, Swift lateralled over to the Napa Sheriff’s Office and worked as a deputy in numerous assignments including Valley Patrol, American Canyon PD (a contract city), the Problem Oriented Policing Program (POPP), the Dive Team, and as a Taser Instructor. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2016 where he supervised Patrol, Animal Services Bureau, Problem Oriented Policing Program (POPP), Mobile Field Force (MFF), Search and Rescue, and the Taser team. After being promoted to Lieutenant in 2018, Swift served as the Patrol Lieutenant over the Patrol Bureau until 2020. From 2020 until May 2022, he served as the Administrative Lieutenant overseeing Recruiting, Hiring, Training, MFF, Property Evidence Team, the Crime Lab, and the Social Media Team.

Most recently he was a volunteer on the following Law Enforcement Associations; a State Board member and Treasurer for the California Peace Officer Association (CPOA), a member on the CA Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Advisory Committee, and a member of the LE Advisory Committee for the Santa Rosa Police Academy.

Prior to law enforcement, Swift was an Infantry Officer in the United States Marine Corps (ended at the rank of Major). He is a graduate of the Senior Management Institute of Policing (SMIP) Session 81 in 2021.
