Kim Durden is the social media coordinator, freelance photographer, and instructor at AKF Athens Martial Arts in Athens, Georgia. She became an assistant instructor in 2013 and participated in the Certified Instructor Training Courses in 2014 and 2015 before leading her own classes in 2015. She attained her 1st degree black belt in 2016, 2nd degree in 2018, and will test for 3rd degree in April 2021.
Kim received a certificate for Assistant Instructor of the Year in 2013 from the American Kyuki-Do Federation and founded the AKF Athens Martial Arts Volunteer Program in 2017 and the AKF Athens Martial Arts Toy Drive for Athens-Clarke County Foster Children.
As an instructor, Kim has taught many children and adults about the importance of respect, honesty, humility, and perseverance, as well as confidence and empowerment through self-defense and the physical and mental skills needed to progress through the ranks. Kim believes that the improvements A-Corps will make in the Athens community will not only provide her with a multitude of skills, but also a sense of renewed pride and feeling of belonging.
