Kristen is a graduate of the University of Georgia’s School of Social Work, having earned her bachelor's degree in 2016. In her final undergraduate year she interned with Project Safe Inc., a nonprofit organization in the Athens area that serves women experiencing domestic violence. Kristen helped structure and facilitate women’s counseling groups, conducted interviews for prospective volunteers, and held intake interviews for clients in need of services or references.
Kristen also worked for the Division of Family and Children Services where she assisted Athens area families and organizations in efforts for reunification or permanent placement for children facing inconsistencies or dangers at home.
Kristen volunteers as a routesetter at Active Climbing, designing and installing bouldering routes. She is a diversified hobbyist with interests in sewing; carpentry; furniture and light fixture design; and outdoor activities such as hiking, rock climbing and trail running.
While achieving the goals of each community project with the A-Corps team, Kristen hopes to become a stronger leader and a more skilled professional, to think more critically when faced with changes or challenges, and to better understand the needs and resources of the Athens community.
