    The evening of Saturday, March 14, 2020, the Georgia Secretary of State Office made an announcement addressing a State of Emergency related to COVID-19. The March 24, 2020 (PPP) Presidential Preference Primary Election is postponed and moved to the May 19, 2020 General Primary. The PPP Election will take place with the General Primary. More details to come. Advance / early in-person during March 15-20 has been suspended.     The Daffodil Sip & Stroll is a Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful (KACCB) Board of Directors’ fundraising event held at the State Botanical Gardens of Georgia on March 19th from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Attendees stroll through the Shade Garden Trail stopping at designated locations to taste a selected wine and sample selected hors d’oeuvres from different local eateries. Attendees enjoy live music and help raise funds for Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful Programs. 21 and older only. Call KACCB at 706-613-3501 ext. 7879 for more information.     The County Board of Assessors is responsible for determining if you can be taxed, value, and equalization of all property assessments within the county. The Board of Assessors is a three-member body of appointed citizens of Athens-Clarke County. The Board serves on a part-time basis and meets the second Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m., unless otherwise posted. The members are appointed for a fixed year term by the Athens-Clarke County Board of Commissioners and operate autonomously. A Chairman and Vice-Chairman are elected on an annual basis.
