  1. Call for Entries: Ripple Effect Film Project

    Calling all young, budding filmmakers! We are planting the seeds of filmmaking, now just add water and watch you grow: Join the Ripple Effect Film Project by creating a short film about water. Finalists submissions will be shown at The Morton Theater on World Water Day, March 22, 2020. This year the film contest is open to Pre-K through 12th-grade filmmakers of all experience levels in Athens-Clarke County and neighboring counties. Entries can be submitted by an individual or team. DEADLINE EXTENDED! Films must be submitted no later than 11:59 pm on February 15, 2020. No entry fees; cash prizes will be awarded!

  2. For the Love of Bathroom Savings: FREE Showerheads!

    Does your bathroom need attention? Show it a little love with a WaterSense labeled showerhead! For the month of February, free WaterSense labeled showerheads will be available at the following locations while supplies last: ACC Water Conservation Office 124 E. Hancock Ave, 2nd Floor M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Athens Hardware 1080 HWY US-29 M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Normal Hardware 1328 Prince Ave M-F, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.; Sat, 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. A WaterSense label means the product is at least 20% more water-efficient than the traditional counterpart AND performs as well or better. To earn the label, a product must meet EPA's specifications and undergo independent, third-party certification.

Not all magic on Valentine's Day occurs in the bedroom. Some starts in the bathroom, the kitchen, or the laundry room. The water flushed from these rooms travels to one of three "hidden" gems in Athens, where the magic of turning flushed water into reusable water begins. Spend the best part of your Valentine's Day by touring the romantic North Oconee Water Reclamation Facility. All of your senses are sure to tingle as you and your loved one bond over water treatment. Light refreshments will be served, so bring your appetite.
