    2021 Stormwater Calendars are nearly ready, and we want to get them into YOUR hands! Please fill out the form linked on the right hand side of this page to request a copy (or two) of the calendar. Calendars can be picked up in-person from the Department of Transportation and Public Works (120 W. Dougherty Street), or mailed. Copies of the calendar are free and available on a first come, first served basis.

  2. Winter Rain Barrel Sale (Pre-orders open on Monday, Nov. 23)

    The Athens-Clarke County Stormwater Management Program is hosting a Winter Rain Barrel sale - just in time for the holidays! Pre-order a barrel for yourself or give the gift of rainwater harvesting to a friend or family member. Rain barrel kits are available for purchase for $25.00/kit. Each kit includes a plastic 55-gallon drum and a DIY RainRecycle kit from the Rain Barrel Depot. The kit comes with almost everything you need to install the rain barrel at home, including a FlexiFit down spout diverter. We have a limited number available and are asking that barrels are limited to one per person and/or two per household. After you have completed the sale form (which opens on Monday, Nov. 23), you will receive an email from Stormwater Staff with instructions on when and where to pick-up your barrel on December 16th.

    You may remember to check your clocks this November 1, but do you ever think of checking your toilet flapper? If it isn’t up to snuff, you could be wasting water! Flush Away Water Waste in November by checking and replacing bad toilet flappers. Two-inch and three-inch universal style flappers are available for FREE from Athens Hardware & Normal Hardware during November when you mention the Water Conservation Office. Don’t know which size? Turn off the water to toilet, remove flapper, and bring it or, measure the size of the drain in the bottom of tank. The experts at these shops can help you determine which size you need.
