Introduction to camping is a program for adults with cognitive disabilities to learn about the basics of preparing for a camping trip. Participants will have the opportunity to learn how to set up a camp site, pack camping packs, learn basic outdoor cooking, water treatment, and basic knot tying. Before taking an adventure outside, learn the basics of camping in a safe and fun environment!

Due to the nature of the program, Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department is not able to provide one-on-one supervision. Staff will be present to assist with facilitation and provide adaptations for skill development. If one-on-one supervision is needed, a parent/guardian or other care-giver should be present for the duration of the program.
