"Hike Into History" Therapeutic Recreation Program at Sandy Creek Nature Center

Hike into History is an interpretive hiking program for adults with cognitive disabilities. This program will highlight the history of the natural area surrounding the Sandy Creek Nature Center and changes to the over time. The hike will also discuss local plant and animal species that are native to Georgia. The hike will be about 1.5 miles long through moderate hiking terrain. 

Due to the nature of this program, Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department is not able to provide one-on-one supervision. Staff will be present to assist with facilitation and provided needed adaptations for participation. If one-on-one supervision is needed, a parent/guardian or other care-giver should be present for the duration of the program.
