Athens Metal Arts Guild:
The Many Facets of Metalsmithing

Five years ago, the Athens Metal Arts Guild (AMAG) was established, with a mission to provide education, promote public awareness, and 
develop 
interest in the metal arts. The Arts Center will celebrate the accomplishments of the guild members, who range from nationally known professional metal and jewelry artists to skilled and creative hobbyists.

Our Point of View: Athens Area Plein Air Artists
On view: June 5 - August 4
The Athens Area Plein Air Artists gather once a month to paint, draw or photograph, in plein air (out of doors) in the medium of their choice. For over twenty years, the Athens Area Plein Air Artists (AAPAA) have sought out interesting sites and places of historic interest, such as the Trestle, blooming canola fields, hidden gardens, and more.

Vernon Thornsberry places contemporary figures, usually close friends recognizable from the Athens community, in timeless scenes.




LOUNGE GALLERY: Sean Dunn

The Lounge Gallery 
features quarterly solo exhibitions by artists exploring the first steps towards a professional career as an image maker. 

Sean Dunn is a photographer and musician originally from New Orleans and currently based in Athens. He is working on long-term projects in Cuba and New Orleans. The images in this show are from a recent trip to Northeast India.

EDUCATION: CAMPS!




Harry Potter puppets

Live Action Puppets and Video

June 25- 29, 1-4pm, Age 12- 16

Teens will have fun while they create videos that tell an original story by designing and building sets, creating and designing their own puppets, and writing storyboards. They will learn to shoot video and do voice-over acting.

2 week art camp, work in 2D and 3D media, including drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, jewelry making, and more.
