Sculpture Garden Ceremony

The Lyndon House Arts Center is pleased to announce the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Reception celebrating the newest works by Harold Rittenberry Jr. Donated by Dan and Sally Wyche Coenen and the Athens Area Community Foundation, three outdoor sculptures, permanently installed on the campus of the Arts Center, create the new Harold Rittenberry Jr. Sculpture Garden.
Mr. Rittenberry is a self-taught artist who has spent his life in Athens creating metal works recognizable for his fanciful imagery and skill of storytelling. Located in a number of principal sites in Athens and Atlanta, the newest sculpture, commissioned for the Lyndon House, celebrates art, the history of the Lyndon House, fables, environment and love.
The Ribbon Cutting event will include words from members of the community, Lyndon House Arts Center and Athens-Clarke Government, followed by light refreshments.

Eleanor Davis: Pictures and Words with Pictures

Exhibition on view: April 28 - June 2

A rare opportunity to view Eleanor Davis’ original works of painting and drawing, many of which became the book covers and illustrations we have come to love.

Davis is a cartoonist and illustrator whose works you can see often in the New Yorker, NY Times Book Review, Oxford American and other prominent publications including the Google Doodles. Her book publications include "How to be Happy," "Libby’s Dad," "You & A Bike & A Road," and most recently "Why Art?," published by Fantagraphics.  

She lives and works in Athens and is dedicated to the promotion of a better Athens and works diligently on social justice and equality rights with the local activist group, Athens For Everyone.
