The meetings are being held in the Clayton Street corridor area that will undergo improvements beginning in 2018. Two different timeframes for the meetings are scheduled in order to better accommodate business owners with daytime or evening business hours and area residents.

Maps and drawings, updated timelines, FAQs, and other information will be available at the public meetings. Staff from Athens-Clarke County's SPLOST Office, Transportation & Public Works, and Public Information Office will be on hand to answer questions about the project.

Additionally, staff from the Athens Cultural Affairs Commission will be on hand to discuss public art for the project and staff from the ACC Solid Waste Department will be on hand to discuss possible changes to trash and recycling collection in downtown.
The Clayton Street project work will include pavement/sidewalk removal, tree replacement, storm drain installation, pedestrian lighting installation, pavement/sidewalk replacement, and installation of streetscape amenities such as benches, bike racks, and planters.

Wall Street and North Jackson Street from East Broad Street to Washington Street are still considered part of the overall project that will be considered during the design planning.
