Third Thursday
The Lounge Gallery: Lucas Underwood

The Lounge Gallery: Lucas Underwood

Our summer exhibition in the Lounge Gallery features photography by Lucas Underwood. The photos in this solo exhibit represent a tiny portion of the hundreds of images Luke has taken in his three years exploring Georgia, the place and the people.

Luke graduated this spring with an MFA in Photography from the University of Georgia. Born in Iowa, growing up in San Diego and then moving to Georgia for graduate school, Luke became fascinated with the people and landscapes he encounters when he hops in his car and just drives, adventuring to little towns, backroads, farms and forests.

Using his camera as an entrance point, a conversation starter, he engages with the locals, collecting images, stories, experiences and new friends as he travels. His photos, colorful images of colorful characters, examine the south through a poetically quirky, and many times humorous lens.

On view: May 12 - August 8

Opening reception: Thursday, May 21, 6:00 - 8:00pm
