Couch Crashers - Christmas and New Years

Athens-Clarke County Animal Services is seeking temporary foster homes for dogs during the upcoming holiday season. The Couch Crashers program will run from December 19th through January 2nd, offering community members the opportunity to provide a safe and supportive environment for shelter dogs during the Christmas and New Year’s period.

Fostering during this time helps alleviate overcrowding in the shelter, reduces animal stress, and improves adoption outcomes. All food, supplies, and veterinary support will be provided by the shelter.

Program Details:

  • Foster Period: December 19th – January 2nd (flexible within this range)

  • Duration: 1–2 weeks, depending on availability

  • Shelter Provides: Food, supplies, crate (if needed), and staff support

  • Foster Responsibilities: Basic daily care, a safe home environment, and companionship

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals or families staying local for the holidays who wish to support animal welfare in a meaningful way.
