"Log House Open House" at the Nature CenterJoin Sandy Creek Nature Center staff as they open the doors to the Log House and learn about life in earlier times. Play games, make a craft, listen to a story, and explore the house built in the 1790s This family program is scheduled for Saturday, March 22 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. and is for ages 3 years and older. "Dancing through Frozen" at the Morton TheatreDancefx presents "Dancing Through Frozen" at the Morton Theatre with all of one's favorite songs from the movie soundtrack, Frozen fans young and young at heart, come sing along! The performances are scheduled for Thursday, March 20 at 10:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. and Friday, March 21 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 - $13 per person and may be purchased online. On the Road, Again!The Athens Pop up Park takes a park to the people!
Launched in June 2021, this special mobile recreation program recently attended its 100th event! This Pop up Park is available, free of charge, to attend any community-wide or school event within Athens-Clarke County. The bus is covered by original art by local artist Eli Saragoussi. "Adopt a Stream" Workshop PlannedInterested in adopting a waterway near you? Register for the "Adopt a Stream" workshop! Join Sandy Creek Nature Center for the chemical and macroinvertebrate workshops to learn more about the qualities of clean water. Space is limited to 10 people. This free program is for ages 13 and older and set for Saturday, March 29 from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Pre-registration required by March 27.

Learn to Swim this Summer!The Leisure Services Department offers small group swim lessons for children. All lessons are taught by certified lifeguards.
Opportunities include Kinderswim, a free learn to swim program for five year olds who live in Athens-Clarke County, as well as: The fee is $33 for ACC residents and $50 for non-residents for Swim School and Parent and Tot Swim School. Classic City Pétanque Club Hosts TournamentClassic City Pétanque Club will host the third annual Federation of Pétanque USA (FPUSA) Southeast Region Mixed Triples tournament on Saturday, April 5 and Sunday, April 6 at Lay Park. The tournament takes place each day from 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Players from Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia will represent their local clubs at the event. In all, 24 triples teams (72 players) will play both days to compete for gold, silver, and bronze medals as well as cash prizes. Final games will be held on Sunday, April 6. Several visiting players include national champions and past members of Team USA who have competed on an international level. Spectators are welcome to bring chairs and attend the event. Volunteers from the Classic City Pétanque Club will be available to explain the game. In addition, event sponsor Pétanque America will be onsite with inventory for interested individuals to learn more about the sport. Classic City Pétanque Club was officially formed in August, 2018. Currently, the club has 61 members of all abilities and interests.

Summer JobsThe Leisure Services Department is now hiring more than 100 summer positions. Applications are currently being accepted for camp counselors, counselors in training, Grand Slam, lifeguards, and pool clerks.
Pay ranges from $15.60 to $17 per hour.
