The ACC Leisure Services, the Arts Center and Lyndon House Arts Foundation are hosting this year's Harvest Festival.  This event is open to all elementary students in Northeast Georgia.  Included are arts and crafts, traditions and histories of the 1800 – 1900’s, using the Ware-Lyndon Historic House Museum as our inspiration.  Included will be demonstrations of what life was like in this period including candle making, blacksmithing, wool spinning and more. Come ride the horse and buggy and enjoy special guest story-tellers and musicians.

OPEN STUDIOS MEMBERSHIP
PROGRAM 


The Open Studios Membership Program allows adult artists in varying stages of their creative pursuit to come use any and all of the seven studios here at the Arts Center! Are you enrolled in a class and would like to invest more time?  Are you getting ready for a show?  Do you need a potter’s wheel, kiln firing, printing press, loom, darkroom or any other studio equipment that you do not have a home? This Open Studios Membership will take care of it!The studios are open for up to 32 hours per week. The monthly fee is $65.  Or plan ahead for a three month membership at a 10% discount of $175.  Open Studios Memberships can be renewed as many times as you like.
Open Studios Membership hours are: Tuesday and Thursday, 1:00 – 8:00 pm, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday (with Open Studio Monitor), 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.
 
Additional Perks of an Open Studios Membership:
 
-Members are eligible to submit a work of art to the invitational Full House Exhibition. See details below. 

- Members are also able to use the studios to prepare work for the upcoming Juried Exhibition. This year's juror has been confirmed and will be announced within the coming weeks!

Members of a single organization and Open Studios Members are invited to show one work, while members of more than one organization are invited to show two. Professional Practice in the Arts: Self-Publishing for Artists

The Lyndon House Arts Center is continuing our partnership with  the Athens Area Arts Council (AAAC) to present Brunch and Learn, hour-long lectures by arts professionals.

The October Brunch and Learn will feature Kristen Morales, journalist, owner of Paper Forest and Communications, and Communications Specialist for the College of Education at UGA.

Call for Artists: Visions of MLK
CALL FOR ARTISTS: VISIONS OF MLK


The Lyndon House Arts Center invites artists and writers to design original, collaborative works for our annual “Visions of MLK Art Exhibition.” This year’s theme, “Let Us Build Bridges” is curated by Montu Miller. This year, the Arts Center will provide 11”x 14” panels to the first 18 collaborative teams (one panel per team) to be used to create an original artwork based on the theme “Let Us Build Bridges.” The Arts Center and curator Montu Miller can offer assistance in pairing collaborative teams if needed.

Textiles: The Sense of Touch

TEXTILES: THE SENSE OF TOUCH

Textiles: The Sense of Touch” is a group exhibit of fiber artists curated by UGA professor Jennifer Crenshaw. The exhibit includes work by Los Angeles-based artist Tanya Aguiñiga, as well as Athens residents Erin Geagon, Johanna Norry, Courtney McCracken and Zipporah Thompson. The exhibit promises to expand notions of traditional fiber arts techniques.

Abandoned Rural America is a group of artists whose subject matter addresses changing landscapes and the transition of family farms. Artists include Angelina Bellebuono, Joseph Coggins, Elizabeth Collins, Charles St. John Dyer, Chuck Hanes, Mary Leslie Hartman, Cassie Hawkins, Peter Muzyka, Don Jolley, Mev Rozsman, Kate Sherrill, Blake Smith, Eugene Swain, Sam Traina, Lisa Wheeler, Kathy Williams and Lori Williams.

Jon Vogt was selected as the Arts Center Choice Award winder during the 41st Juried Exhibition. Jon graduated from the University of North Texas in 2015 with a Masters of Fine Arts in Printmaking. He currently works at the University of Georgia as an Art Studio Technician and part-time Instructor at the Lamar Dodd School of Art.

From John F. Kennedy's Camelot to the new millennium of Barack Obama, Ann Holsinger's collection of political memorabilia spans over 50 years of her Yellow Dog days as an outspoken advocate for Democratic candidates and platforms.

Cleo Ward creates colorful, appliqued and beaded quilts, bags and containers. Also among the new items in the shop are batik pillows by Katharine Himley, jack-o-lantern honey pots from Bee Natural, and an assortment of acorn ornaments by Suzanne Reeves.
