New Year, New Stormwater Goals!

As we welcome 2025, consider setting a resolution to protect our waterways! Here are a few simple ways to get started:

  • Adopt a Storm Drain: Keep it clear of debris and report any clogs or issues.
  • Rainscape Your Yard: Use landscaping techniques to reduce runoff and improve drainage.
  • Join a Cleanup: Volunteer for a stream or neighborhood cleanup to remove litter from our environment.

Small actions add up to big impacts! Visit accgov.com/11212/Rainscaping-for-Resilience-Program to learn more about how you can make a difference.

Stormwater Infrastructure in Winter

Winter rains in Georgia can put extra strain on our stormwater systems, making maintenance and vigilance essential. Leaves and yard debris left in drains or ditches can cause blockages, leading to localized flooding. Heavy rain can also erode soil around pipes, culverts, and ditches, potentially causing significant damage over time. Keeping driveway pipes clear and reporting signs of erosion or drainage problems early helps protect our infrastructure and waterways. If you notice an issue, call the Stormwater Hotline at (706) 614-1282 to report it promptly.
